What is an obedient dog?

An obedient dog has basic manners.
He or she—
  • Comes when called while indoors or outside.
  • Walks on a leash without pulling.
  • Does not soil in the house.
  • Greets guests calmly and without jumping on them or pawing them.
  • Plays retrieving or tugging games without hurting humans.
  • Can move near other dogs and animals without becoming agitated.
  • Waits to walk through a doorway until signaled.
  • Waits for a signal before eating his food.
  • Sits or stands still to have her leash put on.
  • Rides quietly in the car.
An obedient dog:
Has a valued place in the family. Because the dog behaves well he can be included in most of the family life. This makes owner and dog much happier.
